Abstract

In recent years, massive infrastructure development has become commonplace in Indonesia, especially in big cities like Surabaya. However, this development also triggers a negative impact on the surrounding environment through a rapid increase in human population that requires more energy and natural resources. The way that can be done to overcome this problem from an architectural perspective is to use the concept of sustainable architecture in buildings. Sustainable architecture offers the minimum use of energy or natural resources with the aim of improving the quality of life and the environment so that it can be enjoyed for a long time. One of the buildings that is classified as using the application of sustainable architecture is Intiland Tower which is located in Surabaya. This study aims to determine the sustainable architectural concepts applied to the Intiland Tower Surabaya office building. In this study, data collection techniques used qualitative methods which were carried out by collecting data from literature, field observations and analysis related to the concept of sustainable architecture in buildings. The results of the analysis show that the application of the concept of sustainable architecture to the Intiland Tower Surabaya building is efficient in energy use and environmentally friendly.
